Built in, not bolted on

Subscriptions share the checkout, customer record, and warehouse with the rest of your store. Nothing to install, sync, or pay for separately.

  • No subscription app to install or keep in sync
  • No revenue share on rebills
  • Subscription and one-time items in one cart, and every rebill is a real order

The add-on route

$600 to $1,350+ a month

App fees and revenue share for a store billing $50,000 a month in subscriptions. Included on UltraCart.

  • Triggers already wired

Skips, declines, and cancellations start the next step inside UltraCart. No connectors, no sync delays.

  • Your data, one warehouse

Auto orders, customers, and attribution land in the same BigQuery warehouse as your orders.

  • Cards stay current

Stored cards sit in a PCI Level 1 vault, and gateway account updaters refresh them before the next rebill.

One cart, one checkout

Subscription items are regular catalog items with an auto order schedule, so they share the cart, coupons, shipping rules, and checkout with everything else.

  • Mixed carts. Subscription and one-time items in the same order.
  • Real orders. Each rebill runs through tax, shipping, inventory, fulfillment, and your webhooks.
  • Your schedule or theirs. Let customers pick the frequency, or enroll them automatically on steps you define.

How we got the add-on number

Example store: $50,000 a month in subscription revenue.

  • App fee. Leading subscription apps list plans from $99 to $599 a month.
  • Revenue share. Per-order fees of about 1 to 1.5% on $50,000 is $500 to $750, plus per-order cents on some plans.
  • Gated features. Bundles, SMS management, and retention flows often require the higher tier.
  • On UltraCart. Subscriptions are included in your plan with no revenue share. Optional services such as AR Retry are priced separately.

Triggers already wired

  • Communications flows. Skip, reschedule, Ship Now, and frequency changes in My Account fire flow triggers.
  • Webhooks. Auto order and item-level events for create, rebill, decline, pause, cancel, and reactivate.
  • Marketing tools. Iterable lifecycle events, and rebills sent to ad platforms as their own event.

Your data, one warehouse

  • BigQuery included. Auto orders, items, rebills, and cancel reasons next to orders and customers.
  • Sample queries. Cohorts, churn, and auto order analysis are documented.
  • Attribution. Rebill revenue is attributed against the rebill's own total.

Cards stay current

  • Vaulted cards. Stored in a PCI Level 1 vault, masked on the customer record.
  • Account updaters. Available through gateways such as Braintree, Stripe, Authorize.Net, NMI, and PayPal with dual vaulting.
  • Card rules. Block cards that expire before the next rebill, or block specific card brands for rebills.

Offer the subscription where they buy

Shoppers choose subscribe or one-time right on the product page, and the auto order checks out in the same cart as everything else. Set the price and schedule for each step of the subscription.

  • Subscribe or one-time pickers and schedule selectors, built with Item Offers in the Visual Builder
  • Free trials, intro pricing, and step pricing that changes by rebill
  • Customer-chosen frequency, or automatic enrollment on your schedule
How auto order items work

Let subscribers fix it themselves

In My Account, subscribers skip, pause, reschedule, or change quantity without opening a ticket. When someone heads for cancel, a skip offer and a reason picker come first.

  • Skip next shipment, Ship Now, reschedule, and pause
  • A cancel flow with structured reasons, plus click-to-cancel options for FTC compliance
  • Every change can trigger a follow-up flow

Recover failed payments on autopilot

When a rebill declines, UltraCart retries on your schedule and emails the customer. When they update their card in My Account, the new card goes on the auto order, every rebill parked in Accounts Receivable, and any open Accounts Receivable order. Eligible orders are charged in the background, and the auto order reactivates.

  • Configurable retries (3 tries, 3 days apart by default) with decline and expired card emails
  • The same protections as the hosted update billing page. Orders older than 45 days get the new card but are never charged automatically.
  • Nothing to turn on. Link your expired card emails to My Account and one update restarts everything.

Your team sees every subscription

The CRM Subscriptions tab shows each customer's auto orders, next ship dates, and lifetime value beside the conversation. AI and human agents act on it without switching screens.

  • Per-item next ship dates, transaction history, and change logs
  • Permissions for who can cancel or postpone, plus the new Manage Auto Orders (Remove Items) permission for removing recurring items
  • Hold before shipment, plus bulk postpone and cancel tools

Know what each subscriber is worth

Fourteen auto order reports cover churn, cohorts, cancel reasons, declining payments, and projected sales, and the raw data sits in BigQuery for anything else.

  • Churn, cohort, LTV, and cancel reason reports included
  • Rebills reported to ad platforms as their own event, so acquisition numbers stay clean
  • SQL access to the same warehouse as your orders and customers

Subscriber requests, handled in the conversation

Web chat, SMS, and phone conversations carry the subscriber's auto orders with them. AI agents look up a subscription, update a card, pause, resume, delay, or cancel, and hand off to your team whenever a person is better.

Subscriptions FAQ.

Do I need a subscription app to sell subscriptions on UltraCart?

No. Auto orders are part of the platform. You set the schedule on the item, and subscription items check out, rebill, and report like any other order, with no app to install or sync.

Is there a per-transaction or revenue-share fee on subscriptions?

No. Subscriptions are included in your plan with no revenue share on rebills. Your normal payment processing rates apply, and optional services such as AR Retry are priced separately.

Which payment methods support rebills?

Credit and debit cards, PayPal, and Venmo, plus Apple Pay when PayPal is your provider. Methods that cannot be charged again later, such as purchase orders, checks, and some buy now, pay later services, are not available for auto orders.

What happens when a subscriber's card declines?

UltraCart retries on the schedule you set (three tries, three days apart, by default) and emails the customer. When they update their card in My Account, the new card is applied to the auto order and any parked rebills, those are charged in the background, and the auto order reactivates.

Can customers skip, pause, or cancel without contacting us?

Yes. My Account lets subscribers skip the next shipment, reschedule, pause, change quantity, and update billing. You can require a cancel reason and offer a skip before the cancel completes, and FTC click-to-cancel options are available.

Can I offer free trials or intro pricing?

Yes. Auto order steps let you set a different price and schedule for each rebill, so you can run a trial, a discounted first order, or pricing that changes over time.

Can I sell subscriptions and one-time products in the same order?

Yes. Subscription and one-time items share the same cart and checkout. Only the subscription items repeat on future rebills.

Can I move my subscribers from another platform?

Yes, with help. Auto orders can be created through the REST API, and UltraCart's professional services team can plan a migration with you. Contact us to review your current setup.
