Volume Discounts

Item-level volume discount ecommerce configuration is native to UltraCart. Every item in your catalog carries its own Discounts and Pricing Tier tab in the item editor, where merchants define quantity ranges and the unit price that applies to each range, without a bulk-pricing app, a custom price script, or a separate B2B engine.

Volume discount rules live on the item record itself. That means a product's tiered pricing travels with the item through every UltraCart surface: catalog display, cart, checkout, receipt, back-office order entry, and headless storefronts using the UltraCart REST API. Variations and kit items can each carry their own volume discount ladder, so a merchant can price a 12-oz bottle differently from a case of twelve 12-oz bottles, or adjust the quantity breaks on a subscription SKU without affecting a related one-shot SKU.

On platforms that rely on apps for quantity-break pricing, the price on the catalog page is rewritten by a third-party script that does not always agree with the cart, the order confirmation, or the fulfillment export. Merchants find this out during a high-volume sale when the receipt shows a different total than the cart did. UltraCart keeps volume discounts in the same price engine that drives the cart, the order ledger, tax calculation, and the subscription rebill, so the unit price on the receipt is the same price the shopper saw on the product page, every time.

The Discounts and Pricing Tier tab also hosts gated Pricing Tiers for wholesale and B2B customer groups. When a tier-assigned customer qualifies for both public volume discounts and their wholesale tier, UltraCart applies whichever price is lower automatically. Every volume discount rule is fully exposed in the UltraCart REST API for product imports, PIM syncs, and headless storefronts.
