Per-item customer group pricing ecommerce configuration is native to UltraCart. Every item in your catalog carries its own Discounts and Pricing Tier tab where merchants set wholesale, distributor, and VIP prices for each customer group assigned in the account, without a B2B portal app, a separate wholesale storefront, or a dedicated pricing-rules engine.

Pricing Tiers are created once in the account (Operations, Customer Profiles, Pricing Tiers) and then configured per item. For each tier on each item, merchants set a custom unit price, a tier-specific set of volume discounts, and optional maximum quantity limits (per order or across all orders) that protect inventory from wholesale accounts pulling stock faster than planned. When a customer assigned to that tier logs in, their prices appear on the product page, the cart, and the checkout automatically.

On most platforms, item-level wholesale pricing requires a wholesale app that maintains its own customer list and its own pricing spreadsheet. Merchants end up reconciling three sources of truth every time a product is added or a price changes, and every new SKU needs wholesale pricing entered in a second tool. UltraCart avoids that entirely because tier pricing lives on the item record itself. One import, one spreadsheet, one price engine. Bulk item imports via the UltraCart REST API can set public price, volume discounts, and every tier price in a single pass.

Items can also carry an Automatic Pricing Tier flag, which marks a SKU as a "grants access" product. When that item is purchased, a tier-assignment step (typically handled through the UltraCart REST API) adds the customer to the named tier, which is how paid memberships, annual VIP programs, and distributor onboarding flows are built. Pricing Tiers and public Volume Discounts coordinate automatically, with UltraCart applying whichever price is lower for a tier-assigned customer.

  • Per-Item Tier Prices: Set a custom unit price for each pricing tier directly on the item, so wholesale, distributor, and VIP customers see their own prices the moment they log in.
  • Per-Tier Volume Discounts: Configure tier-specific quantity breaks alongside the tier's base price, so a wholesale account can still step down further on large orders of a single SKU.
  • Volume Limits Per Tier: Cap maximum quantity per single order or across all orders for a specific customer group, protecting inventory allocations and enforcing distributor limits.
  • Automatic Pricing Tier Flag: Mark any SKU as a tier-granting product so purchase triggers tier assignment (via the UltraCart REST API), ideal for paid memberships and VIP program onboarding.
  • REST API & Bulk Import Ready: Every tier price and volume limit is exposed in the UltraCart REST API and the item import tools, so onboarding hundreds of wholesale SKUs is a single upload instead of app-by-app configuration.
