The PayPal Fastlane integration adds a faster, passwordless guest checkout to UltraCart stores by recognizing returning shoppers across PayPal's network the moment they type their email. PayPal reports that Fastlane guest shoppers convert roughly 50% better and check out 35% faster than other guest buyers, based on its own analysis of 1,687 merchants between November and December 2024. For US merchants, this is the single largest guest-checkout speed upgrade available in 2026.

PayPal Fastlane is a first-party PayPal product that taps into the more than 171 million eligible US accounts and 264 million eligible cards already stored on PayPal's network. Shoppers do not need a PayPal account to use it; Fastlane recognizes them by email, verifies them with a one-time passcode sent by SMS, and auto-fills billing, shipping, and card details. Repeat buyers skip the OTP entirely until their session expires.

Most platforms either ship Fastlane through a third-party app, require a separate PayPal Complete Payments or Braintree contract, or stop short of supporting subscriptions and upsells. UltraCart's Fastlane integration enables on top of the standard PayPal business connection that merchants already have: open Configuration > Checkout > Payments, click Connect PayPal, click the Fastlane logo, and save. There is no separate Complete Payments account to apply for, no developer onboarding, and no second integration to maintain.

Unlike most Additional Payment Methods, Fastlane in UltraCart works with auto orders and upsell-after offers in addition to standard one-time orders, so subscription merchants can use it across the full lifecycle. The integration ships as a set of Visual Builder elements (Fastlane watermark, authenticated/address/card conditional blocks, Fastlane card element, Fastlane shipping address element, Address Book button) and requires a current Visual Builder theme: Elements 2.18+, Hero 1.21+, Jewel 1.17+, Lifty 1.21+, Native 1.16+, or Poppy 1.07+.
