UltraCart's review engine lives in Home → Configuration → Items → Reviews, and plugs directly into the StoreFront Visual Builder. Two drop-in elements, ItemReviewSummary and ItemReviewListForm, render on any product page nested under an ItemForm, or you can import a pre-configured .cjson Review Container Panel for a faster install. Either way, the reviews system ships as part of UltraCart, so there is no external SaaS to wire up and no separate data store to reconcile against your orders and customers.
Most ecommerce platforms treat reviews as a paid add-on, and the result is predictable: monthly app fees, reviews that live outside your customer database, inconsistent styling on product pages, and moderation queues spread across multiple tools. The UltraCart customer review engine avoids that entirely because every review is tied to a real UltraCart customer profile. Customer-submitted images and video are supported on Visual Builder themes, and UltraCart applies automatic content screening to keep inappropriate material out of the public queue. You can also ask reviewer profile questions at signup, letting you segment reviews by buyer expertise or use case so shoppers see feedback from the right kind of voice.
Behind the scenes, Item Templates let you define the rating criteria that matter for each product type. A kitchen gadget might score on durability, ease of use, performance, and value; a piece of apparel on fit, fabric, comfort, and style. You can set a default template for your catalog and assign different templates to specific items, including bulk assignment through the batch item import spreadsheet. Variants and related SKUs can share reviews so a multi-size or multi-color product never starts from zero. Sorting by rating, date, helpfulness, length, featured status, or review rank gives you full control over the first impression each product page makes.
Moderation is built for real operational workflows. New submissions land in an Unapproved Reviews queue, and any team member flagged with the Unapproved Reviews notification gets a daily summary email of pending items. Approve, edit, unapprove, or reject each review from the same interface, and elevate trusted reviewers to Expert or Auto Approve in their customer profile so well-earned feedback flows faster over time.
